Appraisal district’s $10M project proposal addresses growth demands

Guadalupe County’s rapid growth is straining existing public services, including the Appraisal District. With its offices already at capacity, Guadalupe Appraisal District Chief Appraiser Peter Snaddon said the entity needs to expand. He and the board of directors are proposing a $10 million expansion project to the 33 county taxing entities that fund the appraisal district. Read More

Texas Lutheran University has officially earned a spot on Nurse.org’s prestigious list of the Top Ten Accelerated BSN Programs in Texas. Tracy Donley, TLU director of communications, says Nurse.org not only evaluates nursing programs based on graduation data, cost, and student feedback but also on their NCLEX-RN pass rates that exceed the national average. Read More

Seguin among nation’s fastest-growing cities, according to latest census estimates

(Seguin) — The latest U.S. Census population estimates, released on May 15, 2025, highlight another year of exceptional growth for the city of Seguin, Texas. As of July 1, 2024, Seguin’s population is estimated at 38,789, representing a 7.4 percent increase from the previous year. Seguin’s strong population growth places it among the Top 30 Fastest-Growing Cities in the United States (on a percentage basis) for communities with populations of 20,000 or more in 2023. Seguin ranks #29 nationally and #12 in Texas, affirming its rising prominence across the region and beyond.  Read More

The Texas Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (TX FAME) Lone Star Chapter is proud to announce the graduation of its inaugural cohort from Texas State Technical College (TSTC), marking a major milestone toward building a highly skilled advanced manufacturing workforce in the region.
On May 2, 2025, ten students from the Lone Star Chapter’s inaugural class walked the stage after having completed the competitive, two-year Associate of Applied Science degree in Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT). This innovative program combines classroom instruction with paid, hands-on experience at sponsoring manufacturing companies within the region, equipping students with the technical skills, professional behaviors, and academic knowledge needed to succeed in today’s modern manufacturing environment. Texas manufacturing production flat,

new orders fall

Texas factory activity held steady in May, according to business executives responding to the Texas Manufacturing Outlook Survey. The production index, a key measure of state manufacturing conditions, retreated four points to a near-zero reading, indicating flat output this month after modest growth in March and April.
